Smashing Pumpkins Redux

Surprise, surprise... Billy Corgan has announced the reformation of the Smashing Pumpkins.

Yeah, I wasn't surprised, either. Everything else he's done since has pretty much sucked, so it would make sense he would get back to his bread & butter, the Pumpkins.

Jane's Addiction, Again? Not Bloody Likely!

When asked about a possible Jane's Addiction reunion, frontman Perry Farrell said:

"When the sky rains money is when we're getting back together."

You guys coulda asked me that and I could have basically answered the same way... The (I had always thought rather well-known) fact is that Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro (a.k.a. "Mr. Carmen Electra... but not for too much longer...") are basically dumb major league caliber pricks that don't like each other very much, anymore... They can't stand to be in each other's company, so why would they want to make music together, anymore? People should just let Farrell get on with whatever musical-venture-that-won't-be-as-good-as-Jane's thing that he wants to do and leave him be, already.

Pink Floyd Reunites

I have been reading stuff about Pink Floyd "reuniting" for the latest upcoming Bob Geldof "feed the world" thing, Live 8 (a reference to the whole superpower G-8 thing) for a couple weeks now, but I couldn't find much info on said "reunion." I mean, I didn't know if it was a full-fledged "reunion" or just a "reunion" of the folks that chose to stick around... Sure enough, Roger Waters will be joining David Gilmour, Rick Wright and Nick Mason... how cool is that? I saw something that said that they were "able to put aside their petty differences for such a cause." How come you couldn't put them aside for something like the music back in about 1984?

This will mark the first time all four have appeared onstage together since 1981.

The question is, "What then?" Can they keep it together long enough to do an actual "tour?" Or even a new album? Fingers crossed, not holding breath.
